Terrain

Most of the terrain at End of the Trail Ranch is reasonably level and flat, ranging in elevation from the southeast corner at approximately 370 feet above sea level to the northwest corner at approximately 330 feet above sea level. The southeast corner affords the best views of pasture, woods, and Wetland Reserve Program (WRP) fields.

The WRP easement is intended to establish natural habitat and preserve the native grasses and black clay soil. Therefore, the 1,241+/- acres in the WRP restricts the use of livestock; but the remaining 100 acres of improved grasses consists mostly of coastal Bermuda. The property is currently not running any cattle, but leasing to cattle grazers is an option.

Wooded areas featuring ash and oak tree stands are located mostly around the creeks, streams, ponds and wet areas. Beautiful mature pecans are spread throughout the pasture affording beautiful scenery and good shade.

Water

Wildlife

The rich variety of wildlife makes End of the Trail Ranch a sportsman’s paradise 365 days a year! There is considerable evidence of whitetail deer and more hogs than can be harvested! Groups of mourning dove can be seen feeding, and September through March, you can count thousands upon thousands of ducks and geese feeding and roosting in the fields. Don’t forget your spotlight for the coyotes, bobcats, armadillo’s, raccoons, rabbits, and possums! Great fishing rounds out the recreational opportunities on this property with plentiful blue and channel catfish, perch, carp, and alligator gar. You may even see some otters slipping in and out of the sloughs and creeks.

Significant dirt construction has been done to the creek and levee system, and a concrete and rock spillway is in place providing easy access across the creek. Dirt roads provide access around the perimeter of the property, and five-strand, barbed- wire fence encloses the 100 acres of pasture. The 12’ x 30’ lodge sits on a concrete pad with electricity, water, and sewer on site.
