Timber/Vegetation

Water
The key to the abundant wildlife and variety of species on this picturesque sanctuary is the water. Besides several small oxbows and sloughs off of the major creeks, there are numerous named creeks dispersed throughout the ranch, the largest being Big Cypress Creek that traverses the property from north to south. Big Cypress is classified as one of the “Major Waterways of East Texas.” This creek sustains Lake Bob Sandlin and Lake Cypress Springs to the north, Lake O’ the Pines to the south and Caddo Lake to the east. Williamson Creek flows through the northeastern region of the property, while Swauano Creek enters the northeastern region from Welsh Reservoir.
Wildlife/Hunting
Due to the diversity of ecosystems and species, The Woods of Cypress Creek Ranch provides 365 days a year of hunting opportunities. Thousands of acres of lush hardwood forests provide forage and browse for the large whitetail deer population, and several strategically located food plots are situated throughout the entire property. An unimaginable number of potential blind and feeder locations only serve to enhance the vast hunting potential on this property.
The setting of The Woods of Cypress Creek Ranch also lends itself to several duck hunting scenarios. There is a bountiful year-round resident population of wood ducks in the sloughs and backwaters, and abundant hardwood mast attracts the migratory duck population. The flooded hardwoods and beaver ponds present unparalleled duck hunting locations and scenarios, as well as numerous sites that would make ideal settings for future duck marshes. Also contributing to the water fowling potential is the property’s close proximity to numerous Texas lakes such as: Lake Bob Sandlin, Lake ‘O the Pines, Welsh Reservoir and Ellison Creek Lake. Similar to the deer hunting opportunities that this property provides, numerous groups can simultaneously hunt the ranch for ducks.
As a result of the Texas Parks & Wildlife and National Wild Turkey Federation restocking programs, wild turkey can also be found on the ranch. Feral hogs thrive in the bottomland allowing for 12 months of big game hunting enjoyment and, of course, the meadows and pastures offer the appropriate setting for an enjoyable September dove shoot.
Fishing
With the ponds and oxbows providing ample largemouth and white bass, crappie, sunfish, and plenty of catfish, fishing opportunities are infinite for any angler.
Improvements
The most valuable improvement is the investment in an iron-ore road system that provides easy access to many regions of the ranch, even during the rainy season. The utility of a property of this magnitude is dramatically increased with a sound internal road system.
